Test-Optional Admission

The University of Cincinnati is proud to offer test-optional admission to students applying for the fall 2025 term. To ensure equitable opportunity for admission, ACT or SAT scores are optional for applicants for these upcoming semesters.

What Test-Optional Means for Applicants

Programs at University of Cincinnati will consider students for admission with or without a standardized test score as part of their application. Choosing not to send a test score will not disadvantage any student. Students who elect not to send a test score will still receive full consideration for scholarships as long as they meet the Early Action Admission Deadline of December 1.

Application Review Without a Test Score

UC has always taken a holistic approach to evaluating students for admission. Standardized test scores have historically only made up a small part of this decision process. In the absence of a test score, the University of Cincinnati will continue to look at all factors of an application holistically. These factors include:

  • Completion of a core curriculum
  • Grades earned throughout high school
  • Student’s decision to take rigorous coursework such as AP, honors, or dual credit (where it is offered)
  • Application essays
  • Extracurricular activities and other achievements
