UC Futures: Rural & Small Town Scholars
UC Futures: Rural & Small Town Scholars is a three-day, two-night summer residential experience hosted by the University of Cincinnati designed for rising high school juniors/seniors who are interested in UC and come from a rural area or small town.
2025 UC Futures Dates
The inaugural 2025 program will be held from Monday, June 23, 2025 - Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Why should I attend UC Futures?
- UC will cover all costs of the program
- UC will provide up to a $100 travel stipend to cover travel expenses to and from campus.
- All registrants for UC Futures will be eligible to claim an application fee waiver code when applying for first-year admission to any UC campus
- Experience residence and campus life! Stay overnight on UC's Uptown (main) Campus in a residence hall and get to know our beautiful campus
- Experience academic & career growth! Engage with sessions that focus on building upon your academic and career goals; and network with the UC community
- Experience leadership! Engage with leadership development opportunities
- Experience community! Within small-group and large-group activities, and an assigned student leader (a current UC student), you'll build friendships
- Experience the city of Cincinnati! From the Club Level, watch the Cincinnati Reds take on the New York Yankees

With a focus on students from rural and small-town students, you are eligible to register if you meet the residency criteria:

To help offset your transportation costs, a travel stipend (up to $100) will be provided. Your stipend will be calculated based on mileage with a maximum amount of $100.
What should you bring?
Bedding – blanket and pillow (pillow case provided)
Bath linens – Towels
Shower shoes (e.g. flip flops)
Toothbrush & toothpaste
Toiletries – deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash
Laptop and charger
Comfortable clothes (including a sweatshirt or hoody in case you get cold since some buildings on campus crank up the AC)
Comfortable shoes for walking

That’s why UC Futures offers special programming just for parents—to welcome you into our Bearcat family, help you feel confident about your student’s next steps, and show you how you can support them along the way.
We invite you to join us for two days of parent-focused sessions that provide helpful information, offer opportunities to connect with key campus partners, and celebrate your student’s achievements.
No separate registration required. Park for free (with validation) in Calhoun or CCM Garage!

Get an overview of UC’s student experience, with a special focus on experiential learning opportunities that set Bearcats apart.
Q&A Panel with Campus Support Resources: 12:00 PM – 12:45 PM
Get your questions answered about campus support resources from leaders representing our UC Campus Safety, Student Wellness Center, Residence Education & Development, and Parent & Family Programs.
Campus Tour: 12:45 PM – 1:30 PM
Join our ROAR Guides for a highlights tour that brings UC’s close-knit campus to life—see where your student will learn, grow, and build community.

Whether this is your first child to go to college (or last), we know this process can be intense. Join us for insight on the admissions and financial aid process; and don’t miss out on our Closing Ceremony for a terrific picture opportunity!
Admissions & Application Overview: 10:15 AM – 11:00 AM
Understand the application and admissions process at UC – learn how you can support your student as they navigate their college process.
Financial Aid Basics: 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM
Our Enrollment Services team will break down the financial aid process and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) so you feel empowered (not overwhelmed) when thinking about helping your student pay for college.
Closing Ceremony & Lunch: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
Join your student for a celebratory closing ceremony where they’ll receive a UC Futures certificate. A great photo opportunity and a meaningful moment to close out your visit together. A boxed lunch is included!*
