A class that changed my life: I took American Sign Language in college and although it didn’t necessarily “change my life” it most certainly challenged me to consider different perspectives and find new ways to express my thoughts. During our final semester, our class was held in a different location each time. We went out to eat, bowling, hiking, and even to a wine tasting! We were instructed to only sign. We could not use our voice. It was fascinating to see how people reacted to us and what they would do to try to understand what we were saying. I never studied abroad in college but this was a wonderful immersion experience!
One piece of advice: Ask lots of questions at every stage of life! If you don’t know something, it’s ok to admit that and ask someone for help. That’s one of the best ways to learn.
