Favorite food: Cilantro, Ambar India, Spicy Pickle, Rohs Street Cafe, Yagoot
Best UC Story:During spring break 2010, I had the opportunity to travel to France and Belgium with the Kolodzik Business Scholars. It was such an amazing experience to visit beautiful places like the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Art Museum and earn credit hours while doing so! I got to know other students and step outside of my comfort zone. I hope all UC students take advantage of study abroad. The possibilities are limitless!
Advice to freshmen:
I recommend that all students get involved. It's not about the amount of organizations and clubs you join, rather the experiences and relationships you develop through involvement. Identify your passions and seek out a group that will challenge and encourage your interests. Ask yourself- what are my motives in participating in various events and groups? Will my involvement enhance my college experience and push me towards my goals? Also, I challenge students to not only get involved on campus, but also in our city. Cincinnati offers valuable diversity, and therefore, opportunities to grow as individuals and as a community.

High School: Jackson High School
Major: Nursing
Minor: N/A
Activities: Social Sorority, Student Tutor, Nursing Ambassador, Student Nurse Association, UC Skydiving Club
Favorite place on campus: Sigma Sigma Commons
Favorite food: maggiano's
Best UC Story:Thus far, My favorite story about UC is when I got my acceptance letter into the Nursing Program. The College of Nursing is a very challanging program and all freshman year I worked very hard to make sure I had the grades to get in. I am glad that UC can provide me the education I need to help me pursue my future goals.
Advice to freshmen:
My best advice I can give to an incoming student is get involved. When a student becomes involved they become more apart of UC. You get to meet some of your best friends in the organizations that you are involved in too. You name it I bet UC has the type of involvement you are looking for.

Best UC Story:My favorite moment as a UC student came my sophomore year of school when I traveled to New Orleans with RallyCats to watch Cincinnati match-up against Florida in the Sugar Bowl. Being in the city and seeing so many Bearcat fans from all over was surreal. To be able to stand on a balcony on historic Bourbon Street and cheer "Down the Drive" while other Cincinnati fans joined in was unbelievable. As the cheer echoed through every alley in the French Quarter, I realized how proud I was to be a Bearcat and how much I loved my school.
Advice to freshmen:
Although everybody has probably already said it, the best advice anyone can give is to get involved. I didn't heed that advice my freshman year and I kind of stuck to myself that first quarter on campus. I made some great friends when I finally branched out but I didn't become the person I was today until I found the organization on campus that I can call my own. Find that thing (be it a sport, a club, a hobby) and become a part of it and every aspect of college will become so much more enjoyable and worthwhile.

Best UC Story:I grew up on a lake all my life and must say that if there is one thing on this campus I miss, it would be that (the rec center pool is great, but just not quite the same). Well, it was one of the first hot days in May last year and my friend Alex and I decided that it was absolutely too beautiful outside to not go swimming. Not wanting to miss the awsome weather by swimming inside in the rec center we donned on our bathing-suits and had a relaxing lounge in the waterfalls behind the college of business. Epic!
Advice to freshmen:
Make lots of great friends. (best method: live in the residnece halls freshman year.) I am 4 1/2 hours away from home and I can no longer call on mom and dad if I am having a bad day and need a hug. (you are really going to have to grow up fast)Luckily, I have an awsome group of friends that I know I can always count on for encouragement, a great big hug, and if need be a pint-of-ice-cream-eating partner.

Stay in touch with your friends and spend as much time with family as possible. Take advantage of what you have right now in terms of freedom, as you get into college you will have the time of your life but you will have to work equally hard, independently.

Best UC Story:My roommates and I had a corner room in Turner Hall, which means tht we had a larger than average space to fill in our living room. We decided to go to Home Depot, buy a few 2x4s and construct a Tiki Hut. The project has evolved into a small business and looks great! It has even been accepted as an honors experience as a collaborative learning experience between business and DAAP majors! Do something fun and creative when you're at UC.
Advice to freshmen:
Use the rest of your high school career to work on prioritizing your responsibilities. Sometimes, starting college can be an overwhelming experience. There is so much to do and such a limited amount of time in the day. Decide what you're passionate about, and use your time appropriately. Most importantly, have a great time!

When applying for colleges, always take campus tours because they give you a feel for what it is like to be a student at that university. Best UC Story:My freshman year, before the online ticket policy was implemented, we were camping out overnight in tents in front of the Lindner Center for tickets to the UC/West Virginia game. We were ranked in the top 25 and the line for tickets was incredibly long. We played games and tossed football all night long. It began to rain later in the evening and just as we began to crawl into our tents for shelter, coach Brian Kelly made a surprise appearance bearing gifts (read: FREE PIZZA!). One of the best nights I have had at UC. I made many friends and even more memories.

We dominated in the third game, and everyone rooting for my team chanted, "He's a Freshman...He's a Freshman!"
Advice to freshmen:
Do everything you can do in your time here. Don't just go into college expecting to learn everything in the classroom. You can learn more from meeting new people, trying new things and getting involved on campus. College is going to be your home for at east the next 4 years...so make it your own.

I have been on road trips, stayed in hotels and camped out with my friends, and been a tourist and it's been awesome! Going to Miami and spending New Year's Eve on the beach then going to the Orange Bowl was an amazing experience and provided great memories.
Advice to freshmen:
Live on campus and get involved. Even if you aren't required to live on campus, it's the easiest way to meet new people. There are hundreds of student groups on campus, so find one (or two, or whatever) that fit you and just explore your options. Also, don't be afraid to try something new. Come out of your shell and do something you never would have done in high school. Maybe you will find you are good at something you never thought you would or maybe you will be terrible, but at least chances are you will have some pretty good memories to look back on.

Don't be afraid to check them out! I love going to TAZA (located right by Turner) with my roommate. We order coffee and play Scrabble whenever we go. It is really the best.
Advice to freshmen:
Do not follow your friends to college! Just make sure you choose the college that's right for you. Don't be swayed by money either. I came to UC for the Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS program although I was offered a full-ride to OSU, and I don't regret any of it!

Best UC Story:I think my best UC story wasn't an actual story but an overall experience. I think that there are so many funny and awesome moments I had in my Residence hall during my freshman year and and my great times have continued since then. Overall I think my best story would just be my Residence Hall life in general during my first year and the fun times have only gotten better as I continue through my college experience.
Advice to freshmen:
I would say the best thing for any incoming students to do to make there college experience better would be to try to be more outgoing. Push yourself to meet new people and do things that you normally wouldn't do. One of the best ways to do this I found was getting involved on campus and joining organizations. I firmly believe that there is a club or organization out there for everyone, that they will love being a part of and love having fun with that group but you have to go out and find it!

It was a class linked with the campus wide celebration of the anniversary of Charles Darwin's publication of the Origin Species. The class was titled Research in Natural Laboratories and at the end of the quarter we took a two week trip to the Galapagos Islands! It was a trip of a lifetime: doing research, swimming with dolphins, and standing beside giant tortoises.
Advice to freshmen:
Get involved but find activities that you love. UC has so many different clubs and ways to meet other students that you have to find what you like best. Don't forget about the city too. Cincinnati has a lot to offer!

These will be some of the best years of your life, but they are going to FLY by, so get ready to seize every moment. Take calculated risks...if you feel comfortable, you're not learning. This is one of the best times to travel, so take advantage of it by getting involved with study and service abroad. Be careful though, once you start, you won't want to stop traveling! GET INVOLVED and make your mark on campus; UC is about our Bearcats - our people - if you get involved, you'll make amazing friends who you can help and who will help you!

Activities: RallyCats
Favorite place on campus: Memorial Hall Courtyard
Favorite food: Deep India
Best UC Story:My favorite memory involving UC actually took place at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh my freshman year. For those of you who don't know about that football game, we were down a touchdown with 1:32 to go. We made a miracle comeback and scored in the last 30 seconds. It was freezing and it was snowing and I don't think I've ever been that cold before, but when we made that final two point conversion for the win, it was absolutely incredible and made the entire trip there worth it! Go Bearcats!!
Advice to freshmen:
Explore who you are. In high school you believe that the person you are, is the person you will always be, but when you come to college everything changes. Embrace the change. Try new things. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Enjoy your time here and disover the real you.

Advice to freshmen:
Choose random roommates! Stepping outside of your comfort zone in your first year at UC is crucial, and having a random roommate forces you to do it right away! It's the chance to make great, lifelong friends and learn a lot. It's really important to take advantage of the diversity of people UC offers. And if you don't get along with them- it's not the end of the world. It's easy to switch roommates and at least it makes for a good story!
