Cooperative education (co-op) is the practice of alternating students' studies with paid, professional work related to their major.
Co-op was invented at The University of Cincinnati in 1906. Now, more than 100 years and 40 countries later, generations of students worldwide have followed our lead!
Today UC's co-op program is listed among the nation's best in "US News & World Report" rankings.
Many programs at the University of Cincinnati offer co-op as an option for their students. See a complete list of participating majors.
UC co-op students earned approximately $28 million dollars through their co-op work assignments last year. Ultimately the co-op employer sets the wage but on average co-op students can earn from $1,700 to $2,500 per month during their co-op assignments. Just as starting salaries vary significantly by discipline, so do co-op earnings.
