The University of Cincinnati (UC) is pleased to announce the recipients of the new UC Global Opportunity Scholarship! Karishma Randhawe and Anjani Lahane will receive full scholarships, including full tuition, housing, meals, and airfare for a total value of over $150,000 each, to pursue their bachelor's engineering degree at UC commencing September 2011. September 5-9, Jon Weller, UC's Director of International Admissions, will personally visit the students and their families to escort the students back to UC.
These are the first such scholarships and are being dedicated to students with a proven academic track record while overcoming significant financial and social challenges. It is our hope that the students will return to India upon graduation to put their education to work for the nation of India or their local community.
UC partnered with the US based nonprofit, Lend A Hand India (LAHI) to find these highly qualified students. With its well-established presence in rural India and experience of working with the marginalized section of the society, LAHI was uniquely positioned to partner with UC to help select qualified students. This partnership was critical to the thorough selection process and identification of the two deserving and underprivileged Indian students for the full scholarships.
Interested in helping more students like Anjani and Karishma achieve their dream? The UC Global Opportunity Scholarship is now accepting donations. Your donation will help support a deserving student’s educational costs – including full tuition, housing, meals, and health insurance. No donation is too big or too small!
