In recent years, UC established minimum academic success criteria that apply to all students applying for admission to bachelor's degree programs.

UC admits students directly to a major, and many majors have selective admission requirements higher than the minimum admission standards for baccalaureate programs. For general admission to a bachelor’s degree program for Fall 2011, students should meet the following criteria:

• High school class rank in the top 60% AND high school GPA of 2.7 or higher AND a 21 ACT / 980 [CR +M] SAT or higher

      -OR-

• High school class rank in the top 10% AND high school GPA of 2.7 or higher AND a 18 ACT / 860 [CR +M] SAT or higher.

      -OR-

• (if high school does not provide a class rank) high school GPA of 2.7 or higher AND a 22 ACT / 1020 [CR +M] SAT or higher.

Important Notes:

• These criteria are for general admission to a bachelor’s degree program at the Uptown Campus only. Many majors have more selective criteria for admission.
• Students who do not meet these quantitative criteria for a bachelor’s degree program will automatically receive a supplemental review from an admissions officer to assess their readiness for study at the baccalaureate level. This may include a review of:
• the personal statement and co-curricular activities to assess motivation/enthusiasm for college,
• academic transcripts to assess grades in core subjects,
• strength of the student’s high school and
• assessment of demonstrated talent in a particular area.
• Students who do not meet the admission criteria for UC’s Uptown Campus, but who show likelihood for future academic success, may be offered admission to UC through its regional campuses or through Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
