A class that changed your life: Political Science 270: Intro to Political Thought - This class really opened my mind. It taught me to think critically and thoroughly analyze different perspectives before making a decision. We read the works of Hobbes, Locke, Nietzsche, Machiavelli, along with many other authors, and then debated their points of view in class. I’ll never forget the amazing discussion we had the day the 9/11 tragedies occurred. My professor broke down in tears in the front of the class, composed herself, and then initiated a candid and thought-provoking conversation that lasted much longer than the allotted class time.
Favorite quote: When I am abroad, I always make it a rule never to criticize or attack the government of my own country. I make up for lost time when I come home.
- Winston Churchill
Best college experience: Internship in Canadian Parliament for Judy Wasylycia-Leis of the New Democratic Party. This experience changed my life and helped guide me towards a career in international education.
One piece of advice: When you are in college, take on more than you think you can possibly handle. Join clubs, volunteer, work part-time, and apply for everything that interests you. Staying incredibly busy will prepare you for what life will be like after you graduate and land a job. Successful people work 24 hours a day…then take amazing vacations to reward themselves!
