Bachelor of Arts, English Writing
Towson University
My hometown: Joppa, Maryland
A class that changed my life: My senior year I initiated an independent study in collaboration with one of my favorite professors. I created the syllabus which gave me the freedom to design the course toward my interests and goals. My research focused on the life, era, and writing of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hawthorne's writing addresses issues of faith, fate, hypocrisy, and humanity in a way that challenged me to grow both spiritually and intellectually.
My best college experience: I joined an outdoor club called Adventure Pursuits and participated in several kayaking trips.
One piece of advice: Spend time traveling or studying abroad. Nothing is more life changing than getting away from the familiar and challenging yourself in another culture. As you embrace new ideas and customs you will also discover more about yourself in the process.
My favorite movie: Gilmore Girls
